I know it is hard trying to fit everything you want to do in one day with everything that you have going on already. You want to play superwoman/superman so bad, but know that all you are going to do is stress yourself out more and more.
But it is possible to stay fit and healthy while maintaining a busy schedule!
For starters, if you have early classes, you definitely want to get some breakfast, but to be able to make it to the cafe on time, you have to get up early. That means going to sleep earlier, too. If you have a shift that ends past 10, then that's another story, but it's possible. If you can, make a trip to the grocery store and get healthy things that will last a week or two. Some examples would be, cereal and milk, yogurts, heat-up waffles/pancakes, oatmeal, and there are plenty more healthy choices out there. For lunch and dinner choices, I know the cafe food and simply-to-go isn't all that great, but I can asure you that it is 10x healthier than eating out every single day. Make smart choices about what is going into your body.
Secondly, I know taking the shuttle seems like the easy route, but again, if you go to sleep early, you can wake up early and that means having time to walk to class. That's a good, brisk walk to and from where you need to go. Try to walk everywhere that you need to that's around campus and reasonable. Also, in the ACB for example, try to take the stairs. If you have free time before and after you're done with everything, why not hit the gym if you can. Try to go as much as possible; you'll thank yourself later!
Third, Rack up on water bottles. Water is very good for you and way better than putting sodas and juices into your body. Even if you can buy your own reusable water bottle and just fill it up with the water fountains, that would work, too. It's everyone's own opinion as to if they like the tap water, but everyone's preference is different. Just stay hydrated! Ladies, carry a spare water bottle in your purses. Saves you money and the urge to drink something you should not be.
Lastly, Rest up! Getting a good night's rest is a great way to keep your mind sharp, your brain functions working properly, and your body at homeostasis. You want to make sure you aren't over-doing yourself and giving your body the rest it needs to be ready for the next day!
So, what other tips do you have about staying fit and healthy while on campus? And what are some things that you do already?
To stay fit while having a busy schedule on campus I try have set days and times each week to attend the gym. I try to stay away from sodas and fatty foods although every once and a while it happens. A health tip is to have a gym buddy, because that person can provide motivation to help push you.

ReplyDeleteLOL! I knew this was your blog without even looking at the blogger, Yeilyn. This is a great topic! I am currently working on reducing my weight down to where I am most comfortable and fit. No matter how hectic my schedule, or any other persons schedule is, eating healthy, exercising, and drinking plenty of water should always be a top priority, and should be placed in ones daily schedule. Thanks for this!
ReplyDeleteLol You're welcome!
DeleteLike Dorian said, my biggest tip is finding a buddy to workout with because it seems like it is more fun and motivating to have a partner on your side. Personally, I may appear fit and healthy, but I am guilty of eating unhealthy food all of the time. However, I am an athlete so it balances out because I work it off. I will definitely improve my diet, though, and walk to classes since it is warm out now. You came up with some great tips!
ReplyDeleteI agree, these are some pretty good tips on getting exercise throughout campus. I think its so hard to stay healthy, consistently working out, eating healthy, and maintaining good grades throughout all of your courses. I've tried a couple times to go to the gym, but I always just fall off track. But when I go to the cafe, I try to STAY AWAY FROM THE FRENCH FRIES!!! And I get mandarin oranges instead. :)
ReplyDeleteThose are some really good tips. Another tip is you can go to the swimming pool. Another thing i do is stay away from the snack machine and always choose a side salad over a fry.
ReplyDeleteon campus living makes it extremely difficult to be healthy. i havent been eating the way i usually would, because the cafe hours are horrible. they close too often in the day in my opinion. why do they have to close twice throughout the day when they dont even have a large variety of things to choose from? the food also isn't the healthiest, because i am almost positive a lot of it is genetically modified. i dont have any tips other than investing in healthy snacks to keep in your room, choose wisely when eating in the cafe, always walk to class, and to stay hydrated with water.
